Sportscasters describe a perceptible electricity at Fenway Park for Red Sox games; fans speak of experiencing it. Rick Leskowitz has measured it. Reviewing the computer measurements he has done at Fenway, as well as a laboratory demonstration at the Institute of HeartMath, this Needham resident explains that both tests "suggest that sports fans hold the energetic key to their team's success."

Dr. Leskowitz is Director of the Integrative Medicine Project at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He is with the Department of Psychiatry of Harvard Medical School. His introduction to the inquiry into the power of large groups includes examples in music, politics, and professional sports. The history of subtle energy extends from Mesmerism and Animal Magnetism to such modern ideas as heart coherence, distant intentionality and conditioned spaces.

The evening of June 10 is an away game for the Red Sox. Come learn how to become a more effective fan. Right there in the Community Room, we can try to create a positive group energy field and go for a win against Cleveland. Together, now: Go Sox!

This program follows the brief annual meeting of the Friends of the Library.
