Masks – Board of Health Requires High Quality Masks in Certain Town Buildings

Given the Omicron variant, which is significantly more transmissible than other variants, Needham is seeing an increase in cases. The Board of Health strongly recommends that people once again wear masks in indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status.

On Wednesday, the Board voted to require the use of high quality (surgical grade or better) masks by both staff members and patrons in select locations where priority or high risk populations gather. Those locations include the Center at the Heights, the Library, the Rosemary Recreation Complex, and anywhere that Town departments hold indoor programs for priority populations to gather.

The Board of Health will evaluate the need for this mask mandate in select municipal locations at future Board meetings, including its meeting on January 20, 2022

Masks are now required for all library users ages 5+ regardless of vaccination status as mandated by the Needham Board of Health. (Masks are available at all service desks if you’ve forgotten one).

Public Use Computers

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Needham, the number of available public computers has been reduced to accommodate social distancing. In addition, there is now a 2 hour time limit, per day. Chromebooks are available for loan upon request at the Reference Desk.

Library Space and Programs

The Library has removed several chairs and tables on both the 1st and 2nd floors, in order to facilitate social distancing. In addition, all programs will be virtual. The study rooms have been reduced to a two person capacity.

Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time!
