COVID-19 Updates

3/7/22 – Face mask ruling lifted. However, to protect children who are too young to be vaccinated, in the Childrens Room, the CDC strongly recommends everyone between 3 & 5 years old continue to wear a face mask. Masks are still available at all service desks if you want one.

The Needham Board of Health rescinded its mask requirement for select municipal buildings effective March 7th to coincide with the change in requirements in the Needham Public Schools. The Board still strongly encourages the use of masks in indoor settings by people who are in high risk groups or who have not been fully vaccinated or boosted. The Board continues to strongly recommend that all Needham residents be up to date with their vaccinations, which includes getting a booster at the scheduled time after your primary vaccination series.

1/7/22Board of Health Requires High Quality Masks in Certain Town Buildings

Given the Omicron variant, which is significantly more transmissible than other variants, Needham is seeing an increase in cases. The Board of Health strongly recommends that people once again wear masks in indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status.

On Wednesday, the Board voted to require the use of high quality (surgical grade or better) masks by both staff members and patrons in select locations where priority or high risk populations gather. Those locations include the Center at the Heights, the Library, the Rosemary Recreation Complex, and anywhere that Town departments hold indoor programs for priority populations to gather.

Masks are now required for all library users ages 5+ regardless of vaccination status as mandated by the Needham Board of Health. (Masks are available at all service desks if you’ve forgotten one).
