What can we help you find?

Book Clubs

The Needham Free Public Library is pleased to host four book clubs. Register for the book clubs on the Events Calendar.

The NFPL Afternoon Book Group meets the second Tuesday of the month from 1- 2 PM, currently as a hybrid meeting on Zoom & in person inside the Library’s Community Room. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 14th where they will be discussing The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. Email neemail1@minlib.net to be added to the monthly book club mailing list.

The Comic Book Book Club, run by Young Adult Librarian Erin Bassett, meets the third Thursday of the month from 7-8 PM on Zoom. Teens and adults welcome (please note that more mature books may be read some months)! New members always welcome! We will be breaking for two months over the summer. The next meeting will be on Thursday, April 18th where they will be discussing Always Never by Jordi LaFebre. Please register on the Events Calendar to receive the Zoom link.

Cup and Chaucer, a poetry discussion group, meets the first Wednesday of each month at 12:30pm. Bring your tea or coffee and a snack and join us for a “taste of poetry”! Each month we will look at several poems by a well-known poet. We provide copies of the poems–no need to read anything in advance–and lead a discussion after reading them. Registration is not required, but if you’d like to sign up and receive reminders for upcoming meetings you can do so on the Events Calendar.

Needham Connects…Building Empathy through Books and Conversation: Formerly known as the Diversity and Discussion Book Club, cosponsored by the Trustees of the Needham Free Public Library, the Needham Diversity Initiative, and the Needham Human Rights Committee, meets every few months. Their next event is TBA. Please register on the Events Calendar to receive the Zoom link.
