Tech Devices Are Now Available to Borrow

The Needham Free Public Library now has 15 wi-fi hotspots, 20 Chromebooks, and 3 laptops available to borrow! With the pandemic there was an increased need for expanded technology with the introduction into Zoom and work-from-home. The Needham Free Public Library felt it was vital to ensure the public had access to the internet, and computers. With funding from the Library Foundation of Needham and the Friends of the Needham Public Library, the library was able to purchase hotspots and Chromebooks for lending.

Digital inclusion is a strategic priority for the Needham Free Public Library, and an important part of the Library’s vision for equal access to all. The device lending pilot program:

  • Supports students and their parents by providing access to educational resources,
  • Supports job seekers by providing access to employment information and resources, and
  • Bridges the digital divide in low- to moderate-income families.

To borrow a device visit find.minlib.net, stop by the Reference desk or call 781-455-7559 ext. 502 . The devices are lent out for a 2-week period with 1 renewal. The devices must be returned in person to a service desk. Only Needham residents may reserve a device in advance, all others may request one in person if available. Devices are available for ages 14+.

Additional devices will be added as funding becomes available.
