Community Room Audio & Visual Instructions
The easiest way to present is wirelessly with AirPlay from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac — or Miracast from a Windows laptop — using the room’s AirMedia receiver. A wired HDMI option is also available.

- Use AirMedia A when the room is whole / not split. Use AirMedia B when the divider is closed and you’re presenting in the rear half. Both receivers are on the same Wi-Fi, so technically either is reachable — but the touch-panel routing follows the A = whole-room, B = rear convention.
1. Connect your device to library Wi-Fi
- On your phone, tablet, or laptop, open Wi-Fi settings.
- Choose the NFPL network.
- Enter the password
needhamlibrary.
2. Wake the System Control Panel
- Find the Crestron System Control Panel on the wall at the front of the room.
- Tap the screen to wake it.
- Slide the prompt to the right to unlock.
- Tap Combine Rooms (use this unless the room divider is closed and you are presenting only in the rear half — then choose Separate Rooms).
Recommended — AirPlay from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac
This is the fastest way to use the room. The Crestron AirMedia receiver shows up as an AirPlay destination on any Apple device that’s on the library Wi-Fi — no cables, no adapters, no Apple TV setup required.

Adjusting Volume

Apple TV (Room A)
Room A has an Apple TV wired to the Crestron system. Use it to play streaming content from Apple TV apps directly through the projector and speakers — no laptop or phone needed. (For mirroring your own iPhone, iPad, or Mac, use AirPlay instead, which is faster and doesn’t require setting up the Apple TV.)
- 1Wake the System Control Panel, slide to unlock, and tap Combine Rooms.
- 2In the left column, tap Apple TV.
- 3Pick a destination — Projector, Confidence (front side monitor), Room B (rear monitor), or TV Station.
- 4Use the on-panel arrow pad, OK, MENU, and Play / Pause buttons as your Apple TV remote.
8A8) instead.
Document Camera
- On the control panel, choose Document Camera from the left column.
- Send it to the Projector (and to Confidence or Room B monitors if you want).
- Use the on-panel Power, Lights, Zoom, and Auto Focus controls.
When You’re Done — Shut Down
- 1Tap the input you were using on the left column (for example Laptop A or AirMedia A).
- 2Tap Clear Route under each destination you used — Projector, Confidence, and/or Room B.
- 3Unplug any HDMI cable from your laptop and the wall, and return it to the labeled pouch in the podium.
- 4Tap the Power icon in the upper-right corner of the control panel.
- 5Tap YES to confirm shut down.
Why “Clear Route” matters
Clearing the routes tells the Crestron system to release the projector and monitors so the next user starts from a clean state. It also makes sure the screen and projector lamp shut down cleanly when you press Power.
Need Help?
If anything on the system doesn’t respond as expected, please ask at the Reference Desk. Staff can reset the system, swap microphone batteries, or help you troubleshoot a connection.
