Study Room Policy

The Needham Free Public Library has three study rooms for patrons to use for quiet individual and small group study purposes. The rooms are not to be used as private offices to conduct private business. In addition to following the Library’s Appropriate Patron Behavior and Children in the Library policies, persons using the study rooms must also adhere to the following rules.

  1. Study room reservations must be made through the Library’s online system and may be made as early as one day in advance; a library card from a member of the Minuteman Library Network, a full name, email address and phone number are required to make a reservation. Rooms may be reserved for a maximum of two (2) hours.
  2. Reservations will be canceled if the patron is fifteen minutes late.
  3. Room use is limited to two (2) hours per day and three (3) days per week (Monday to Sunday).
  4. Room use ends fifteen (15) minutes before the Library closes.
  5. According to the Town of Needham Building Department, the maximum occupancy is four persons per study room.
  6. Patrons should not affix anything to the walls, block the door with a chair or other item, or cover the glass portion of the door in any manner except for a privacy shield provided by the Library for lactation purposes.

Reservations will be canceled and/or study room privileges may be revoked for a period of time if these rules are not followed.
